In December, all Japanese people are busy to attending “忘年会(meaning; Forget our year party= year-end party).” Japanese people are exhausting their jobs, small salaries, saying sorry, bowing everyone, etc, etc. Peoples are drunk and forget their stress at the end of each Year. But in a new year, we have “新年会(new year party),” so what you forget is coming back soon.

My girls and I had a year-end party. Almost Japanese people don’t like standing while drinking. We have a standing bar(立ち飲み Tachi-nomi), that is for small people. If you are hanging out with a lot of friends, we choose Izakaya(Japanese cheap alcohol restaurant).

2.6$ each

We went to the popular Izakaya chain that name is “鳥貴族(Chiken nobility)”.

We call it “Toriki”. Toriki is really famous and popular because they are unbelievably cheap and good. Their price-performance ratio is broken. In Toriki, you can get everything 298yen(2.6$). EVERYTHING. Beer, Whiskey, any kind of Yakitori, rice(boiled with various ingredients). Tastes are good. You can eat and drink like a king If you have 30$. I bet you can’t spend 30$ here if you eat like a dog, drink like a fish.

Anyway, the party begins.

Party glass is done!

This time, we did exchange presents. Everyone bring a 35$ gift then rotating presents hands to hand while singing ‘London bridge is falling down’. so fun!

Sachiko got a charm from Agnes b.
Rika got a lipstick from Chanel
Mio got a bag from Mina(the expensive brand in Japan)

We bought 1 present. But Kishiko says she bought a present two times. Because she “Want to do my best”. She re-take the treats and plus an extra box to the present.

Kishiko
The treasure box is opened

Her present was amazing. A bunch of cosmetics in there. The treasure box for the girls. She had a family council for this event.

And we have other presents. There is a rule for that present is “Bring the stuff you don’t need. If no one wants your stuff, bring it back to your home”. I think the girls bring a secret treasure which she bought once but losing motivation to use. Like lipsticks, nail tips, or anything relative to beauty. But the result is….

Here is a MOUNTAIN OF DEATH

a hundred of a skin toner samples from a drugstore, the pair of exhibition tickets which the artist no one knows, turmeric candy she bought 3 months ago in the resort island, unidentifiable doll exactly looks like a rotten orange…

We roared with laughter. That is too big. The waiter came to our table and say complain about our big laugh.

Exchange presents are so fun. And “Bring the stuff you don’t need. If no one wants your stuff, bring it back to your home” is fun, too. I don’t want to forget about this party. Have a happy holiday!
